In the UK, drivers accumulate penalty points for traffic violations

A man who moved from Spain to the UK has applied a job where a driver’s license is a requirement or strongly preferred.

In the UK, drivers accumulate penalty points for traffic violations, whereas in countries like Spain, points are deducted instead. Ironically, a bad driver in the UK tends to have a high number of points. If a driver reaches 12 or more penalty points within a three-year period, they can be disqualified from driving.
This man unaware of the difference in point systems. Since his Spanish driver’s license had 12 points (a perfect record in Spain but a red flag in the UK), he listed them on his application. Unfortunately, the employer misunderstood, assuming he was a reckless driver, and he didn’t even get an interview!

Indeed, there are numerous job opportunities where a driver’s license is a requirement or strongly preferred. These jobs often involve travel, delivery, or other tasks that require driving, such as delivery driver, care assistant, or technician roles
